Before Country Bebe’s head has even hit his pillow each night I am downstairs, lighting up these bad boys.
Back in my Beauty Ed days, my mantlepiece in London was never without a cluster of decadent, luxury candles (Tom Ford Tuscan Leather being my all-time favourite) and I hadn’t realised how much the flicker of candlelight and the warm, diffused fragrance of essential oils can change the ambience of a space from day to night.
I bought the Sensuous candle from Neom online, which I’ve never done with a candle before. It was harder than I thought. You need to give them a good sniff right? I was eventually sold on this one, because I liked the idea of its cosseting, ‘shut out the outside world’ blend of ylang ylang, patchouli and frankincense. It wasn’t too ‘floral’ or girly, but bold, warm and mood-alternating. Romantic but not cloying. Luckily it was love at first sniff:
In the first shot you can see it burning next to my perennial favourite, Baies from Diptyque. Both candles are around the £40 and you can see how much more ‘candle’ you get for your money with the Neom, including 3 wicks to ensure even burn. I also chose the gloss black glass finish as it fits in with the aesthetic of our living space.
It’s got me thinking about scenting the different ‘spaces’ in our home, perhaps a cleansing Grapefruit, Lime and Bergamot reed diffuser for the kitchen? Or a perky, green noted White Neroli, Mimosa and Lemon candle for my office?
The Sensuous candle is £39.50 direct from www.neomorganics.com
