A week or so ago we were delighted to discover a snuffly, shuffling hedgehog, hoovering up bugs in the garden at twilight. We decided to christen him Hector.
Today however, after accidentally uncovering his nest, we discovered that Hector is after all, a Henrietta.
The prickly clan have been carefully relocated in their nest to a much safer area of the garden, curled up amongst the log store. We have put down some water and wind-fall plums to welcome them to their new home.
UPDATED: Here is a pic (from a distance on zoom, so as not to disturb) of a few of the babies. They have little pale, bald faces and their eyes are still closed.
