It’s started. That twang of the purse-strings when I see the new season’s haul on the shop’s rails. Ankle boots, chambray, slouchy knitwear, leather detailing…. HELLO AUTUMN.
So I’ve done a pretty good job in getting my new season’s wardrobe under way, here’s what I’ve just added to my basket:
High-waisted, black skinny jeans. Not re-inventing the wheel but a true staple of my autumn/winter look. The high cut tucks in the mummy tummy nicely and I find this style from Gap keeps it’s shape and colour well (yes, I could invest £200 on a pair that would fit and last even better, but I tend to knacker out jeans in a couple of months so these will see me through till spring).
I’ve got a thing about midi length skirts at the mo. I think it’s the swish, the feminine length (not boho maxi or inappropriately short) and the colour blocking potential:
Both the jeans and the skirts will be topped with one of these. Each season I buy 3-4 of these boyfriend shirts from Gap. I also wear them under blazers for work and with slouchy cashmere jumpers at home.
Which brings me to…
Bear with me, I know it’s a pretty monochrome, classic look. But I like to change it up each season with some choice, on-trend accessories:
Okay, not an accessory, but I’m pretty chuffed with my new ‘off-duty’ mummy coat this year.
This bag just says ‘conkers’ to me. Beautiful panelling, structured and ladylike. Love it.
For footwear, The Outnet have got some gorgeous new season bargains. Like this burgundy pair of beauties from Michael Kors for my work days:
And these off-duty lovelies:
Next week, I’ll be updating my beauty bag with some autumnal online purchases too…
