I just wanted to update you all as I’ve been overwhelmed by the personal emails I’ve received from readers after my last difficult post.
Daddy passed away, bravely and with me holding his hand, at Exeter Hospice Care on 24 April. As a fully fledged Daddy’s girl it has seemed, at times, too much to bear. I never appreciated how heavy and exhausting grief can be; how it leaves you mute with sadness and rendered completely without purpose or direction.
It was probably inevitable then, after 4 weeks of very little sleep, extreme stress levels and a diet consisting solely of NHS food that I was admitted last week to hospital myself, with severe tonsilitis and glandular fever. 48 hours of rehydration, IV antibiotics and steroids later I was discharged, with a couple of hours to spare before Daddy’s funeral. In short – rock bottom was reached.
So, as they say, the only way is up and I’m putting one foot in front of the other on the road to recovery. There are lots of pyjamas, box sets and nutrition-overhauling on my horizon, let me tell you. I have thought long and hard about Countryfille.com and how to get back in the blogging saddle. On one hand, writing about lipsticks and holidays seems completely pointless and frivolous but on the other it is the ultimate distraction for me and being a writer is who I am so, here I am.
Expect normal service to resume shortly,
Until then,
