My £2 skincare hero product

So, after the popularity of the £2 hair hero product post, I thought a follow-up for skincare would be good.

Okay, this one is a bit of a cheat because it’s usual RRP is £3.95 (it is currently on offer in Tesco’s for £2), but I figured even at that price it’s worth flagging as a great winter moisturiser…

What with my new cycling bug, central heating and whipping seaside winds – my skin is wrecked. Cheeks are scratchy and flaky, t-zone resolutely oily and my jawline hosts a smattering of hormonal breakouts. Quite the combo, huh?

I picked up this day moisturiser from Johnsons as I wanted to go back to basics and slather something on thick to protect me from the elements.

The cream itself is of the Nivea/Astral/Ponds Cream ilk, but lighter in texture. It’s got a great fresh scent and gives skin that instant hit of hydration, leaving it feeling supple and soft. It sinks in quickly but does leave skin feeling protected, you know that ‘just moisturised’ feeling? It’s got a SPF 15 too, good to keep that up in your day cream even in winter. I’ve noticed in just a week my skin is calmer and more even. A blob of Clarins Beauty Flash balm patted in on top and a sweep of Tom Ford lippie and I’m good to go. As I say, even at £3.95, a great little winter skincare find.

Nourishing 24-hour day cream with SPF, £3.95
