First up, I love the goth, dark aubergine packaging with silver embossed handwriting and beautiful black illustrations of various fauna. It’s not pretty, pink and pastel. It’s glamorous and a little bit different. First thumbs up.
Second HUGE thumbs up.
Here are the swatches:
The shadow is super smooth to apply, finely milled and highly pigmented. I used it as an eye-opening wash across the whole socket but it can also be used wet for a more intense finish.
The compact has a big mirror in the lid and this cute engraving:
The lippie is more of a nourishing lip treatment with a sheer lip tint. It is super moisturising and gives lips a dewy hint of colour. In this case, a warm caramel. A great ‘stick it in your handbag, slick it on without a mirror’ formula.
I’ve seen the full complement of products and there are some more promising lines, including a mattifying balm (I am addicted to Benefit’s Dr. Feelgood complexion balm which seems similar) – ideal for this season’s flawless skin. There is a wind-up creme blush (like a chubby Pritt Stick) which I love for winter when skin can get clogged with heavy formulas. There are pallettes, polishes, mascaras and skin prep, too.
From what I’ve seen it’s going to be a great little range, far more than a WAG endorsed cosmetics range if that’s what you were thinking. The formulas are complex and clever and the colours flattering rather than screamingly trend led (no turquoise eyeliner here). A great new addition to the make-up bag.
