I wrote about my love of pure linen bedlinen last summer; this year I wanted to share my left of field find… French Connection’s Home range. Who knew?! Am I last to the party? I didn’t even know it was a thing… and what a thing it is…
I know it’s awfully zeitgeist-y of me, but I am having a ‘rattan/cane furniture’ moment. There is something about the warm, natural tones and organic bent-wood shapes that feels really familiar and homely to me – that and cork tiles, which I am on a one-woman crusader to convince my husband we should bring back.
French Collection Home’s current collection is full of woven rattan lighting and cane furniture; we have an inherited 60s sun room add-on at the back of our house that’s half brick and half glazed and I have a vision this summer of painting it all white and converting it into a bit of a hot house, with loads of house plants and cane furniture with rugs from here* and amazing embroidered India pouffes from here*.
Rattan chair, £395; Cane coffee table, £295
What prompted this post was this rug that I bought in the sale last week for our newly decorated bedroom (I will show you pics once it’s done but the rug has arrived in anticipation and the quality is great) – so far, the tones are all grey (from an off-white ash to dark charcoal grey) with blush pink velvet curtains… I’m adding some rattan touches in here too to warm it up a bit (I told you I was obsessed).
Details: Poppy rug, £50
I also have a vision of installing a ‘woven basket’ wall downstairs, after falling in love with Interior Spy at the House & Garden Festival last month – I love this look from French Connection’s site, but I prefer the idea of collecting vintage ones that have a story to tell… the hunt begins…
