I thought I’d start a new weekly post, linking in to countryfille.com’s Pinterest page with a theme, and new board, each time. First up: tattoos.
We are rather tattoo-happy in the Mansi household. I got my first, aged 19, just off Camden Lock Market (I downed a triple Jack Daniels at Jongleurs beforehand). It is an original design that I had been doodling on my jotter at school since the age of 13. I’ll try and get the OH to take a shot tonight (it’s on my back) to show you, it’s a simple black design that, if I’m honest, wasn’t *amazingly* executed, but I love it nonetheless. It signals my move to London, independence and the start of my ‘tattoo bug’.
Thankfully I married a man equally ink mad. The OH has a full back piece of a falling angel, that I ADORE. He then has two half sleeves (collarbone down to the elbow), one Japanese inspired (waterfalls, koi carp, clouds etc) and the other is a geometric pattern in dot shading. Needless to say, I like a man with drawings. As does our son, weirdly. He loves lying in bed in the morning tracing Dadda’s pictures with his little pudgy finger. I also love that they tell a story of our time together, collected between Bristol and London they have grown and become more beautiful over the years.
Now I’m a little older, and a tad more clued up on tattoo artists and the genre of work I like, I’m planning my next piece. Gulp.
I’m torn between a few ideas (hence the Pinterest board). It’s either a retro, old fashioned classic, such as the swallow, anchor or horseshoe; a super simple symbol in an innovative place (I love the crook of the arm, rib and front shoulder); or a beautiful, free-style piece of typography.
What do you think I should get?!
