My name is Lydia. I have a thing for baskets. I mean, it could be worse couldn’t it?! As addictions go it’s pretty tame, but still – my cravings for new woven vessels are STRONG and hard to sate. I’ve sniffed out some beauties at French brocantes that I use regularly for market trips, or foraging the French hedgerows (I make a mean creme de mûre from the laden brambles lining the lanes on our morning dog walks).
But a new source has come onto my radar and OH MY has my basket obsession kicked up a notch. I WANT THEM ALL.
But I settled for this one…. to start with….
Wovenology work directly (and ethically) with artisans in Ghana to create authentic bolga baskets, like mine. They’re great for shopping with a sturdy leather handle, or for magazines/storage (mine will have logs in come autumn).
If our rescue pup wasn’t such a chewer, I would buy one of their dog baskets in an instant:
Similarly, if another baby was on the cards – one of their Moses baskets would be a no brainer:
Alas, I can’t justify either…. but what I can get on board with is house plants (my other obsession) and marry the two with one of their woven planters:
I am now wracking my brains as to what else I can put in a basket (toys, laundry, magazines… all covered) – anyone got a baby I can borrow?!
